- Scottish Welfare Fund Grants
Recently there have been some issues regarding information provided to the Scottish Welfare Fund that is being detrimental to those applying.
Clients who have visited foodbanks have recently found out that disclosing this information is proving to have a negative effect on the grant that they are then receiving. According to the fund, clients attending a foodbank did not need assistance accessing food which in turn means money is deducted from their award.
Also, there have been cases where the fund have been referring clients themselves to foodbanks instead of making the payment to those applying.
This information is to provide clients and services with the awareness of disclosing foodbank usage as a potential issue when applying for crisis and community grants.
If there are any issue you face, The Scottish Government have a leaflet detailing how to challenge Welfare Fund decisions which can be found here.
